Computer Training Course

Overview

We actively provide series of computer-related training courses and lectures for promoting the computer skill and knowledge of users in Academia Sinica.
According to our strategy, courses are divided into three categories: beginners, advanced, and project. New courses are introduced for new fields each year. And a dedicated website is provided for new messages and courses signup.

Not only training courses, but also lectures by invited scholars and experts are given to the user in Academia Sinica, topics include information technology, system management or network application. In order to meet the need of training courses, we have upgraded the classroom at the Department of Information Technology Services and also setting up the second classroom at the Life Science Library since 1997. With the state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment and maintained in good condition, user could learn in good environment.

There are online training programs (offered by the Executive Yuan's Auditing Department) available, which are divided into the following categories: Daily-life application, Advance Office Application, Linux series, Programming Language and Database, Website authoring and Graphic Design Software, Information Security. The evaluation of online learning environment is also going on.

Application Precedures

  • Applicants and Fees:
    Courses are offered to users in Academia Sinica, including researcher, staff, technicians, and contracted employee free of charge.
  • Sign-up:
    Users who would liked to attend courses, must fill out the application form (Word, PDF) in paper, and submit it to the Department of Information Technology Services or by fax. (fax: 2783-6444). A class will not be open if less than 10 applicants sign up, 7 days before the class starts.
  • Classroom location:
    Most classes will be held in the classrom room of Life Science Library, some of classes held in the classrom room of the Department of Information Technology Services because of the software license issue or the number of atendee. The location will be announced at the website and be sent to atendee by email.
  • Result of sign-up:
    The result of sign-up will be notified 3 days before class starts by email. Atendees who have not been notified by mail may search "Class Name List" for their name.
  • Class sign-in:
    All attendee (including auditor) need to sign in at the classroom. Sign-in sheets are placed on table at the entrance of classroom.
  • Government official learning passport
    Holders of the Government Official Learning Passport who finish a course must personally register their credit hours with the learning passport system. After-class sign-in is not permitted, so it is mandatory to sign in before a class.
